Founded in 1943, Construction Materials Laboratory is the oldest established testing laboratory in the East Tennessee Area. From our initial beginnings as a small firm providing testing services almost exclusively for the X-10, K-25, and Y-12 weapons facilities in Oak Ridge, we have grown to a company with 20 full time engineering technicians and gross billings of over 1 million annually. Our client list has expanded over the past 70 years to encompass industries from the financial, retail, transportation and even residential sectors.
Headquartered in Knoxville, TN, CML serves the surrounding areas in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. We formed a close association with Foundation Systems Engineering in 1979 to provide our clients with consulting geotechnical, geoenvironmental and construction materials engineering services. This association allows us to provide quality services in all aspects of the geotechnical consulting and quality control testing fields. In 1973, a full service branch laboratory was opened in Johnson City, Tennessee to better serve CML’s clients in the southwest Virginia and Western North and South Carolina areas.
